Interior Designer with hospitality and cruise ship design experience

BG Studio International is an award-winning International Design firm based in NYC specializing in luxury boutique interiors. The firm designs and manages large scale luxury hospitality and high-end multifamily residential projects throughout North America and Europe.  We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interior design, especially in the realm of cruise ship experiences. We specialize in creating breathtaking spaces that captivate and delight guests, setting new standards for luxury and comfort at sea.

We are currently seeking a full-time intermediate interior designer or interior architect with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience.  Suitable candidates will be highly motivated to work in a design driven environment, out-of-the box, and creative multi-media problem solver with a forward-thinking approach to design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • Minimum of 4 years of hospitality design with a focus on cruise ship projects.with an Interior Design and/or Architectural Firms 
  • Stay updated with the latest code marine requirements (IMO, double rubs, material coefficient of frictions etc. ), design trends and technologies in cruise ship design and incorporate them into our projects.
  • Coordinate with external partners and vendors to ensure timely and accurate execution of design plans. Experience on site with Shipyards preferred.
  • Proactive and able to meet project timelines and client expectation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Photoshop, Power Point, Word and Excel
  • Highly organized with good communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Extensive sources and resource knowledge base (domestic and europea).  This is a CRITICAL skill and will be discussed during the interview
  • Strong understanding of design principles, space planning, and material selection for cruise ship design
  • A portfolio showcasing your past cruise ship design projects and creative ability.
  • Deep Knowledge of Fabric, Furniture and Lighting
  • Support design direction for all interior projects from Concept through DD, and partner with architects, collaborate with all team members to ensure design intent is carried through CDs and through all material/FF&E selections and specifications
  • Write detailed specifications for all materials including FF&E, create schedules and produce specification binders
  • Create and manage furniture budgets
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Present project aspects within team and participate in client meetings.

Junior Interior Designer

We are currently seeking a full-time junior interior designer with 1-2 years of professional experience. Suitable candidates will be highly motivated to work in a design driven environment, out-of-the box, and creative multi-media problem solver with a forward-thinking approach to design

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an interior design or interior architecture firm.
  • Hospitality design experience preferred
  • Be available to work in person full time.
  • Knowledge of planning, FFE, materials and sample boards.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ACAD, Photoshop. Revit a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective assistance with presentations (sample boards, renderings, drawings) FFE and material selection.
  • Interface and support interior designer and architects for various projects
  • Assist in coordinating all fabric material inquiries and reserves to check for availability for assigned project
  • Organize, prepare, distribute and file materials and data to help establish and maintain effective communication and information systems within the design department.
  • Support completion design as required.
  • Very organized.
  • Presentation skills
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of sample library.
